How to use find and replace
Paste your text into the left box. Type the word or phrase you want to change in Find and its replacement in Replace with. The result on the right updates as you type, and a note tells you how many matches were replaced. Leave Replace with empty to delete every match.
Options
- Match case only replaces matches with exactly the same capitalization. Without it, "seo", "SEO" and "Seo" are all matched.
- Whole words only stops partial matches. Replacing "cat" with whole words on won't touch "category" or "concatenate".
- Use regular expressions lets you match patterns instead of fixed text.

In regex mode, $1, $2 and so on insert captured groups, and \n and \t in the replacement insert a new line or tab. If a pattern contains an error, the tool tells you what's wrong instead of changing your text.
Good to know
All matches are replaced at once, and your original text on the left stays untouched, so you can experiment freely. To check exactly what changed, paste the before and after versions into the Text Diff Checker.
Frequently asked questions
How do I delete a word from all of my text?
Type the word in Find and leave Replace with empty. Tick "Whole words only" so it isn't removed from inside longer words.
Can I replace text with a new line?
Yes. Tick "Use regular expressions" and type \n in the Replace with box.
Which regex flavour is used?
JavaScript regular expressions with Unicode support, the same syntax used in most code editors and in Google Sheets' REGEXREPLACE for common patterns.
Can I undo a replacement?
Your original text is never changed. Clear the Find box and the result matches your original again.
